Mother’s Day

Each year, during the month of May, F.E.O. volunteers will identify at least 15 moms living in extreme poverty and will provide a basket full of groceries enough to last for a month. This will give them a breather and space to use the money they earn as street vendors towards saving it or using it to not fall behind paying basic utility bills

Disclaimer: This initiative comes after asking the community what they would like to see happening. Our volunteer, Maria, met with members of the community.

Christmas Celebration

Each year, during the month of December, volunteers will identify a minimum of 20 households living in severe poverty and will provide a basket fill of groceries enough to last for a month, as well as toys for any minors living in the house. This will give them the opportunity to celebrate Christmas with dignity and joy.

Medical Grants

F.E.O. is committed to supporting families with the cost of medical expenses. This grant can be either short or long term. Individuals and/or families who need this support will need to apply either online by filling out the form or through our volunteer, Maria Oscanoa. F.E.O. offers these 2 options as we are aware that having access to internet and a computer can be very limited and challenging.

Educational Grants

F.E.O. believes that education is the main key to spark systemic change and to break the cycle of poverty. Our goal is for this grant to be long term. We would like to walk side by side with individuals as they go through high school, college, trade school, or others. This grant is a combination of financial and emotional support.

The potential grantees commit themselves to having a check in with our volunteers at least once a week, and to meeting with one of the board members at least once a month. They also commit to providing proof of all educational expenses needed/made. Individuals and/or families who need this grant will need to apply either online by filling out the form or through our volunteer, Maria Oscanoa. F.E.O. offers these 2 options as we are aware that having access to internet and a computer can be very limited and challenging.

Food, Clothing, Household Bills, etc.

F.E.O. understands that addressing one piece is not enough, and that we need to strive for addressing all pieces.  A child, a teenager, an adult cannot be expected to learn if they are going hungry, or need to worry on whether they are going to have electricity at night or not. These grants are part of our mission and vision: “living with dignity means having our basic needs met.”
